When life gives you an old biology classroom…
Room 105 in Luther Hall once was a space for lectures and experiments in the name of science. When Luther Hall reached its twilight as an academic building, some wise minds proposed the idea of using the classroom as a coffee shop. With the help of volunteers, the room was gutted, cleaned up, and decorated. Finally, in the spring of 2003, “The Lab” was open for business.
Since then, The Lab could not continue to successfully operate without the support of its many student volunteers who prepare drinks to order and welcome customers during their individual shifts. Student managers are also critical to the success of the business, as they oversee finances, PR and communications, inventory, and general operations. A faculty advisor is also a part of the team, who provides a budget and acts as a mediator between the business and administration.
The Lab is a unique BLC establishment in its approach; we aim to provide a diversity of activities, events, and products that appeal to a broad scope of BLC students. In doing so, our vision is to be the place on Bethany’s campus where any student feels like they belong to our family.
